What our graduates say!

"In the early 1980's, I found myself having to make the choice that so many mothers today are faced with: to become a stay-at-home mom or to continue working? I was fortunate enough to have a husband who made it financially possible for me to stay at home and focus on my 3 daughters, so over the next 15 years, I focused exclusively on my family. But by 1998, I was obliged to find a job to help out at home. By this time, I had been out of the marketplace for so long that I struggled to find anything, and eventually had to settle for a dead-end administrative position which paid me just enough to get by. After 8 years of mindless slog in a job that offered me nothing other than a sense of failure and worthlessness, I finally took the daunting step of resigning and starting my own catering business. Whilst I was passionate about cooking, I quickly discovered that this was a venture that ate up my time and resources without giving much back - both financially and personally.

Throughout my struggle to "find myself", I constantly perused the internet and searched through magazines, looking for work-from-home opportunities - but all that yielded was one dead-end after another. In a similar way, the myriad of multi-level marketing schemes seemed so appealing but only served to shatter my confidence further.

So in 2010, when my eldest daughter showed me an ad for Medical Transcribing with Transcribe SA, I was initially sceptical - especially because I would have to go back to studying at almost 58! It just seemed crazy! I am so glad that I overcame my reservations and started the programme in June 2010, because in January 2012, I graduated from the Careerstep Medical Transcription programme with honours! (a granny of 59 nogal)

Within days of getting my results, Dee from Transcribe SA called me up with a job offer - I never even had to look for work. I am thrilled to say that at the end of February, I will receive my first salary cheque, which will be quite substantial in my experience. The best part is that I am doing something that is challenging and rewarding, all from the comfort of my own home and with the flexibility to adjust my schedule as needed.

Thank you Transcribe SA for affording me this wonderful opportunity in my twilight years and for restoring my faith and belief in myself.

Heather, Transcribe SA graduate, Johannesburg.

"I didn't think that making a career change from the financial to the medical industry was going to be simple, but Career Step couldn't have made it easier. The course material is comprehensive and, from day one, the course prepares you for the job you will finally do. By the time I graduated, I felt really confident in the knowledge I had gained and well prepared for my new career. Within two weeks, I had my first client and within the month, I had more work than I had dreamt of. Best of all, I was working from home and loving every minute of it."

Theresa, Transcribe SA graduate, Johannesburg.
